Man Utd v Liverpool – Free Betting Tips Special

Legendary Red Devils midfielder, Paul Scholes, has this week said that Manchester United v Liverpool is still the biggest fixture in their Premier League calendar despite the widening disparity between the two North-West clubs.

A massive 21 points and 7 league places separate the most successful clubs in English football History as we head into Sunday’s league meeting at Old Trafford. The previous six top flight encounters between the sides has produced 20 goals with only one under 2.5 goal result, a nervy 1-1 draw at Anfield last season.

On home soil, the league leaders usually prevail against their bitter rivals from Merseyside; Alex Ferguson’s men have won the last three fixtures at Old Trafford versus Liverpool and all games ended in over 2.5 goals being scored  – 1.62 euro odds or 8/13 normal odds.

The bookmakers seem pretty certain that we’ll see at least 3 goals this Sunday lunchtime but they are less sure of a Manchester United victory, which seems strange when you consider the form of Robin Van Persie (16 goals in 18 games) and the fact they’ve won 9 of their 10 home matches.

The only upset was a shock 3-2 loss to Spurs back in late September, but I can’t envisage such a complacent performance from an Alex Ferguson team in a vitriolic fixture like this. He seems to have hit upon a very attacking winning formula in the big games this season; Valencia and Young play as very wide attackers as Carrick and Cleverley sit in the centre of midfield, it’s the formation that the Old Trafford faithful appreciates the most and it usually guarantees a very exciting, entertaining match.

The desperation to defeat and also humiliate their oldest rivals is enough motivation for the United squad and for me to go for a Red Devils victory – 1.91 euro odds or 10/11 normal odds. Van Persie is already a hero to the Stretford end but I have a feeling he could cement his place in Manchester United folklore by scoring his second hat-trick of the season, and his first at the “Theatre of Dreams”.

The odds for the Dutchman to find the back of the net three times against Liverpool are 21.0 euro odds or 20/1 normal odds. To back up this small stake bet I would also go for Van Persie as an anytime goal-scorer at 2.0 euro odds or evens 1/1 normal odds.
