Wales v Belgium Free Tips – Euro 2016 Qualifying 12 June 2015

Golden generation is not a term used lightly for either of these sides. For Wales, the presence of Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Allen, and Ashley Williams gives the dragons talent at every level of the pitch. And that is why they are currently level on 11 points with Belgium in Group B.

Belgium also have their most talented squad in years, as evidenced by their 4-3 victory over France in last weekend’s friendlies. While Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, and Thibaut Courtois are all household names, Belgium have other good players like Nacer Chadli, Marouane Fellaini, and Romelu Lukaku.

This is all set to be a fascinating matchup because of the talent that will be on display. Moreover, the chance to grab first place in Group B with a clear lead should provide added impetus for both sides to try and win.

Expectations

Mid-November saw Belgium play at home against Wales in a 0-0 draw. Comparatively, though, the statistics would suggest that this matchup is not quite even. Where Belgium have scored 13 and conceded one from five games, the Welsh have scored only seven while letting in seven.

That scoring efficiency does not appear to have left, with the Belgians netting four times against France last Sunday. Although controlling only 41% of possession, the Belgians were extremely efficient in attack and scored four times from five shots on target. Wales do not have the midfield talent of France and are unlikely to dominate possession.

Playing against France gave Belgium the opportunity to sharpen up for the Welsh, who did not play a friendly last weekend. Having not played international football for many weeks now, there is a chance that the Welsh could be quite rusty when they welcome the Belgians to Cardiff on Friday night. That would give Belgium plenty of attacking opportunities.

Belgium gave up two goals to the French while leading 4-1 in the 89th minute, but that happens in friendlies. Expect a tense game like the one between Wales and Belgium in November.
